Additional records of marine bivalves from Iraq, with a provisional checklist for the marine bivalves of Iraq

چکیده
Specimens of four species Bivalvia not previously recorded from Iraq were discovered. These are Didimacar tenebrica, Aspidopholas obtecta, Neotrapezium sublaevigatum, and Barbatia trapezina which belong to the Noetiidae, Pholadidae, Trapezidae Arcidae families, respectively. All specimens collected alive intertidal zone northwest Persian-Arabian Gulf, Iraq, in Fao region. Although these widespread our study is first report them along Iraqi coast. A provisional checklist marine bivalves presented listing 32 21 have been verified or photographs. This list compared with data adjacent coasts Kuwait Iran.

Phylogenetic conservatism of extinctions in marine bivalves.
Evolutionary histories of species and lineages can influence their vulnerabilities to extinction, but the importance of this effect remains poorly explored for extinctions in the geologic past. When analyzed using a standardized taxonomy within a phylogenetic framework, extinction rates of marine bivalves estimated from the fossil record for the last approximately 200 million years show conserv...
متن کاملThe miRNA biogenesis in marine bivalves
Small non-coding RNAs include powerful regulators of gene expression, transposon mobility and virus activity. Among the various categories, mature microRNAs (miRNAs) guide the translational repression and decay of several targeted mRNAs. The biogenesis of miRNAs depends on few gene products, essentially conserved from basal to higher metazoans, whose protein domains allow specific interactions ...

Indian coastal waters are subjected to considerable pressure from sewage and industrial wastes, which are responsible for the contamination of the waters with consequent loss in biodiversity. Monitoring methods adopted so far have helped in documenting the level of contaminants in water, sediments and biota, but not the interaction of these pollutants with living organisms. Exposure of animals ...
متن کاملEvidence for interspecies transmission of oyster herpesvirus in marine bivalves.
Since 1991, numerous herpesvirus infections associated with high mortality have been reported around the world in various marine bivalve species. In order to determine whether these infections are due to ostreid herpesvirus-1 (OsHV1), a previously characterized pathogen of the Japanese oyster (Crassostrea gigas), PCR analysis was carried out on 30 samples of larvae collected from four bivalve s...

the hazardous effect of heavy metals on the histopathology of selected organs of the freshwater fish common carp (cyprinus carpio l.) was investigated. gill, liver, kidney and flesh samples were collected after 32 days of exposure to a sublethal concentration of 5 mg/l of combined (cd + pb + cr + ni) metal solution containing 1.25 mg/l of each metal ion (1/10th of lc50 / 48h) was analyzed by us...
